Hood cleaning in Oceanside · San Diego County

Oceanside hood and exhaust cleaning.

Oceanside kitchens run the full range, from high-volume spots near the pier and Coast Highway to steady neighbourhood restaurants inland. Coastal air is hard on rooftop fan housings, which is one more reason not to let a duct run go unserviced.

We service kitchens throughout Oceanside, including the Coast Highway corridor, downtown Oceanside near the pier, the harbor and Mission Avenue. Work is done overnight, after close, so a cleaning never costs you a service.

Inspected locally by Oceanside Fire Department, Community Risk Reduction Division.

On the ground

What we see in Oceanside kitchens.

Oceanside runs the full range, from high-volume kitchens near the pier and along Coast Highway to steady neighbourhood restaurants further inland. The coastal blocks share the same problem as the rest of the 101 corridor — salt air degrades rooftop fan housings faster than most owners expect.

Harbour and pier-adjacent kitchens tend to cook heavier than their size suggests, which usually puts them on a shorter interval than a similar restaurant inland.

Fire code in Oceanside

What Oceanside expects of your kitchen.

Kitchens here are inspected by the Oceanside Fire Department, Community Risk Reduction Division. Check with them for anything specific to your building — they set the rules, we just clean to them.

  • Oceanside requires a restaurant's hood suppression system to be serviced by a licensed contractor within 6 months.
  • A Class K rated fire extinguisher is required in the kitchen.
  • Fire inspections are scheduled through the Community Risk Reduction Division on (760) 435-4101.
  • New or remodeled hood suppression systems require a Wet Chemical Acceptance Test Report at final inspection, referencing NFPA 17A.

Some of the above covers fire suppression, which is a separate trade — we clean exhaust systems and do not service or certify suppression equipment. Your suppression contractor handles those items.

Questions

Hood cleaning in Oceanside, answered.

How often does Oceanside require hood suppression service?

Oceanside requires a restaurant's hood suppression system to be serviced by a licensed contractor within 6 months. That is a different trade from ours. We clean the hood, filters, plenum, duct run and exhaust fan; the suppression system itself is serviced by a licensed suppression contractor. Most kitchens keep the two on separate calendars so neither quietly lapses.

Does my Oceanside kitchen need a Class K extinguisher?

Yes — a Class K rated fire extinguisher is required in the kitchen. Class K is the rating for cooking oils and fats, which a standard ABC extinguisher is not designed for, so an office-style extinguisher on the wall does not satisfy it. Inspections are scheduled through the Community Risk Reduction Division on (760) 435-4101.

We're remodeling a kitchen in Oceanside — what's needed at final inspection?

A new or remodeled hood suppression system requires a Wet Chemical Acceptance Test Report at final inspection, referencing NFPA 17A. That report comes from your suppression contractor, not from us — we are not a suppression company and do not perform acceptance testing. Once the system is signed off and you are cooking, the hood and duct run go onto a cleaning schedule, and that part is ours.
